It’s the American fascist equivalent of the Nazis selling beer koozies or ashtrays to commemorate Auschwitz…
They get paid like $0.10 / hour and most of it gets spent at the commissary where essentials (like toothpaste and soap) are sold at normal prices you see outside of prisons. It’s deliberate so the prison can make money off their inmates while making sure a black market exists they can use to justify cruelty.
