Conservatism, in the original sense of the word, wasn’t such a bad political ideology. It used to mean a desire reforming the current norms through gradual change and evolutionary measures.

Unfortunately, it has been perverted, as the social norms modern “conservatives” seem to want to promote include transphobia, homophobia and heteronormativity.

Conservativism has always been about protecting traditions and hierarchy. The term has poltical origins from people that wanted to reestablish the french monarchy after the revolution.

That was the original meaning. Eventually, it evolved into “some change is inevitable and desired, but we’d like to do it gradually while preserving most traditions”.

Now it seems to be evolving back.

Sounds more like classical liberialism where they oppose social policies outside of “natural economics” pressures.
