I honestly can’t believe what some of the reviews/articles from big media outlets were saying about the polish. Literally one a week into launch saying it’s “so polished, it puts other AAA games to shame.” It’s like they didn’t even play it.
Story? Great. Characters? Some of the best ever in a game. Action? Fun as shit. Polish? No. It’s kinda rough.
Really? I love the game but my partner and I are both dealing with tons of really annoying bugs. They’re usually fixable with a reload but it’s a huge pain. It’s things like enemy path finding bugging out leaving enemies frozen on their turns, items not working (eg. Lumps horn), random hit boxes in the world preventing me from moving through an important area.
I wouldn’t say the game is a buggy mess or anything but I absolutely wouldn’t call it polished
I just assume they are talking about the degree to which the game is polished at launch vs pretty much every AAA game for the past 10 yeara or so.
Ita not perfect but its a damn sight better than most of the games ive played in recent memory which dont feel polished for years beyod release and by that point ive completed or got bored of them.
Theres no argument that this is a bad game though. I do take issue with that. Objectively its one of the best games ive played in years and ive never wanted to go back and play more woth another game quite like this one. Lile i activelt enjoy it, its not just there to solve boredom like some other games i play out of habit like overwatch.
I think about this game all day until i can get gome to play it. For clarity Im 36 and lts taking over my life. I need to fpcus on my wife, kid and job lol.
Oh yeah I totally agree it’s a great game. Didn’t mean to imply otherwise. My argument is just that I wouldn’t call it polished. It’s a lot better than other games on launch but it’s not quite at what I’d describe as polished.
Yeah, thats a fair take overall. More true about act 3 than act 1 though.
I think the main thing to take away is that games of this quality and size that are actually fun to play which dont need to nickel and dime their playerbase are not only possible, destroying the lie the industry has been pedaling, they are also a necessity to fix the capitalist plague that has infected gaming.
Im not saying games that have an overbearing number of microtransactions that try to squeeze every penny are automatically bad games, but good games or even great games that do expect you to pay more and more to access content in the game are made bad by that very practice.
It needs to stop before more people turn up in forums like this trying to defend cash grabbing saying things lile, “thats just the way things are now” or “ok boomer” like im clinging to some old way and need to get with the times.
Activision/blizzard have around 6000 employees and spent 5 years developing overwatch 2 and that ended up being overwatch 1 with less content.
First act is polished, rest of the game is full of bugs. Was the same issue with DOS2. It’s good that they’re working on all the later bugs, but acting like the entire game is perfect needs to stop. Nothing preventing me from finishing it, but I’ve had several issues where I had to reload my game to try to fix things not happening when they should.
I’m very glad Larian is polishing the game instead of taking the praise that the game is polished and dipping out.
That’s not their style, I expect/hope an enhanced/definitive edition comes in a couple years with new features and adding back cut content.

Sure would have been nice for it to be polished before it released.
Apparently a hot take lately.
It was polished. I bought it on launch and had zero issues. Polishing it even further isn’t a problem.

Its simply inexcusable and im bloody tired of it.
