    There’s an old Russian proverb about a man who finds some magic creature, I can’t remember what exactly. It tells him he can have anything he wants, on the condition that his greatest enemy will get the same thing. “In that case,” the man says, “take one of my eyes…”

        No, I think the point was that many people would rather make their enemies suffer alongside themselves than share in something good.

          I mean was the Russian proverb that you can wish for what you want, but your worst enemy will get twice as much. Answering losing one eye means your worst enemy will lose two.
