“I feel that man-hating is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class hatred against the class that is oppressing them.”
– Robin Morgan, leader of the American Women’s Movement. Hostility towards men is a perfectly natural consequence of fear of the violence of men (like the crime in this story) causes and should be accepted.

Rape culture long predates manosphere. Men have always been like this.

TERF island just hates women.

Hmmm, what’s your HSK level?

Or New York City where people assume without explaining the whole world knows the difference between bronx brooklyn and so on. Unless you live there, who cares? And they sneer at us for being “flyover territory” because obviously the only other place that exists is LA. Imagine “standard” English was assumed to be Noo Yawk accent.

Wait until you find out Beijing mandarin is not “standard” and Beijingers sound like they have marbles in their mouths. Made a very unpleasant acquaintance with one this evening and Culturally they’re jerks as well as linguistically, not less because they’re told from birth that they’re right and everyone else is wrong.

Sorry, I don’t IPA.
Neither does anyone else.
That’s why Pinyin was invented.
And better yet, Bopomofo which can’t be represented with the Latin letters.
Xi jinping is not Whe jinpeeeng.
Nor is Beijing “bay-zheeng” as so many of its long-term foreign residents pronounce it.

Cultural appropriation

Anyone can shit on the street but right on the front porch is a deliberate “fuck you.” To a homeowner who had the wealth to buy an old house, gosh maybe they should use some of that wealth to open their home to people without one.

That’s not literature, it’s a manga.

Those are the least common letters in English and they are jarring to the eye when used often.
Pinyin was developed as a romanization system for the phonemes of Mandarin. But it’s a poor system. Xi doesn’t sound like “she,” Pinyin X is a sound English doesn’t have. It’s like “sh” but instead of using the tongue tip you use the tongue blade.
Taiwan has Bopomofo but it’s symbols like hiragana. for Romanization it uses the older Wade-Giles system which also looks alien.
Hsieh-hsieh sounds more like “thank you” than the alien xiexie.

I tried reading Dream of the Red Mansions and three Kingdoms but failed. There are simply too many damn names to keep track of. Dates back to village life when every Chinese knew 150 people by name and knew all their family trees. It’s worse in pinyin because the Q X and Z makes it unreadable.

/r/The_Donald is where it caught fire and went mainstream. It’s forgotten today but they dominated /all day after day after day during the 2016 campaign. WIthout Reddit’s support Trump would be a laughingstock today like Ross Perot.

Booooo! Reddit links suck! Who reads that site, seriously. That’s where the alt-right got started.

The Good Earth is widely considered one of the best novels abut China ever written in English. There are several sequels but they are not nearly as good.
Chinese people don’t know much about China. Once you start speaking the language you start finding out all their dirty little secrets.
Lots of Chinese people don’t speak Chinese very well. Many times I know their culture better than they do. Ask people the story of Qixi and they only have a vague surface level understanding.
What were Jiang Zemin’s main accomplishments?
Just read the dang book, it’s a fast read and it won awards all over the place. It’s out of copyright so you can find it on all the usual ebook sites like archive.org and such.
