Ah, interesting, I didn’t realize that this stuff had been around so long!

I’m sorry to hear that. I recognize that any general statements meant for a “majority” audience can appear to be insensitive to those outside that “majority”. That was not my intention and I regret that it appeared to be so.
I didn’t say it was a rule or commandment. The point is that natural food ingredients > processed, mystery ingredients for health (as a general rule, not always).
Also, an extreme low carb diet is not necessary to avoid diabetes, for most people.
The point is that natural food ingredients > processed, mystery ingredients for health (as a general rule).

Seaweed is looking super sus atm
Not seaweed in general, but “Processed eucheuma seaweed (thickener) (stabiliser) (gelling agent) emulsifier”
Pretty much, perhaps with the exception of bacon fat. And I say this as someone who is mostly vegan. The point is that natural food ingredients > processed, mystery ingredients for health (as a general rule).
Point taken, but the thing about adages is that they are generally truthful, simple guidelines, not 100% fail-proof rules. The point is that we should eat real, natural foods, not ultra-processed “products”.
I’m sorry to hear of what happened to your family members though, that’s truly regrettable! Sorry for your loss.

Note it doesn’t just say seaweed in general, but “Processed eucheuma seaweed (thickener) (stabiliser) (gelling agent) emulsifier”
Again, the old adages to eat real foods, and only ingredients that your grandmother would have cooked with, ring true.
Upvoted for the news that these treatments are speeding towards approval. However, the point that no one knows how these new treatments work seems silly, given my understanding that no one seems to know exactly how antidepressants in general work either (or at least they didn’t until recently?), even ones that have been used for decades, like Prozac.
Here’s a quote from an article from 2021: I’ve been making references on this blog for years about how we don’t even know how antidepressants work
Yes, the example is a pretty poor one, but the idea has been around for a while. I’m surprised that the author didn’t even mention it, since it’s become more mainstream over the last few years, with books and academic papers written about it, and some economists adopting the idea. It’s called Modern Monetary Theory (i.e., “MMT”).
Thanks. That was pretty much my impression of the situation. Being used everywhere, but not the core of the pipelines at most places yet.
I think they just mean extremely popular within their segment, since AFAIK Blender hasn’t become the industry standard in 3D yet either? I could be wrong about the latter though, since it’s been a while since I looked.
Yeah but that means it’s on a fire sale! points to temple
Haha, smart!
Yeah, I (and I’m sure a lot of other people) had thought of that too, but now the whole North is on fire.
I saw a comment, probably on Mastodon, from an author saying that (I believe) ChatGPT had plagiarized some of his work verbatim. I don’t recall if it was a work of fiction or not, although for the purpose of copyright it doesn’t matter.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s trained on works of fiction just as much as non-fiction though. I think that from what I’ve heard, you can ask ChatGPT to write something in the style of particular writers? If it’s possible to give a very specific prompt for it to write something with the same plot points as a Stephen King story in the style of Stephen King, I wonder just how close it would look like the original?
I had heard some mentions of this before too, but didn’t recall the exact references. I went searching and found this recent study.
It’s not just style. From what I understand (I’ve never used any of the generative AI tools), they supposedly can and do output chunks of text verbatim from copyrighted works.
WMDs was one of the excuses for invading Iraq. Another was that they hosted Al Qaeda people in the country. The administration started claiming Saddam Hussein was somehow involved in the 9/11 attacks within a couple of days. Here’s just one article I found from a quick search: https://www.brookings.edu/articles/9-11-and-iraq-the-making-of-a-tragedy/
