Bet you $10 he doesn’t sell those jets to Turkey though

My main project at work is with an elderly dev who is absolutely atrocious.
Everything he touches is just…. His code is so bad.
And I don’t just mean “he isn’t familiar with the latest framework” bad, I mean it’s bad.
He doesn’t understand eventual consistency, dependency injection, what the fuck is a domain?, our ports and adapters pattern has ports defined that are explicitly tied to specific infra… Like it would genuinely be better code if he just didn’t attempt any abstraction in the first place.
He’s a Java dev and it’s a Go project, and frankly his Java code sucks too and his Go code is written like bad Java code but in Go and it’s a fucking mess. It’s such a fucking mess.
It’s all bad. It’s a bucket of shit.
Touching his code is always a week of Lovecraftian horror, beginning with a “I’ll refactor this” to “fuck it, I’ll just bolt this” followed by “dear fucking god dear fucking god how does anything work”
Anyway I don’t want him to get fired because (1) that’s not my problem, in the long term, and (2) why not let the guy cook on the corporate dime?
But I need to get away from the guy.

No to mention the absolute disrespect for copyright

Extremely bourgeois flooring and a colonialist rug.

I spoke to my good friend, Mitch McConnell, this morning and he said beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep.

Someone forgot to program in the defense mode and so it followed the default system routine

Nikkei Asia - Five US tech giants’ hidden debts soar to $1.65tn on opaque AI funding
The five companies’ hidden debt, which does not appear on balance sheets, totaled $1.65 trillion in the most recent quarter, exceeding the roughly $1.35 trillion in debt reflected on their balance sheets. The data includes some estimates.
Meta’s off-balance-sheet debt is particularly high at about $420 billion, nearly triple its recorded debt.
Under accounting rules, GPUs and servers under long-term contracts that have not yet been delivered – as well as lease agreements for data centers that are not yet operational – are treated as off-balance-sheet items.
Companies disclose such future debt not in their balance sheets, but in annotations to their quarterly financial statements. This is a legitimate practice under accounting rules, but may make it difficult for retail investors to recognize risks.
Tech giants are already relying on issuing corporate bonds and new shares because their investment expenditures are exceeding their earnings.

I guess this is vaguely gesturing at Xinjiang?
Australia-China trade is close to 4x Australia-US trade so good luck trying to use tariffs against that situation.

It kind of makes sense. Israel and Turkey are increasingly adversaries so Greece knows it’s team.
