KitchenAidstand mixer or anything like that? Best thing I ever learned is making ice cream with dry ice. I just put the base in the mixer, start it with the paddle, and start putting in crushed up dry ice, one spoonful at a time. I managed to get dry ice in the little cubes or pellets, put it in a cloth sack, and then use a hammer or blunt object to break it up into small pieces.
Ok. Let’s do this! If you have a 4 cup pyrex/microwavable measuring cup, it is much easier.
- Sauce pan with a lid. Nonstick is fine.
- 2 cups of rice using dry measuring cup
- 3 cups of water
- Salt if using unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Put empty pan on stove and set heat to medium-high. If these are steel pans, stick to medium. Go towards high if nonstick as it takes a bit to heat up.
- Put water and butter in microwavable cup and throw it in the microwave until it starts to simmer, maybe 3 minutes? Depends on microwave and dish.
- While you are waiting on microwave, put dry rice in pan and gently stir/fold. They will start to turn white, but don’t let them burn. If you need to take the pan off and turn the heat down, do it. We are just preheating the rice and pan up. Add salt if needed.
- Get ready. As soon as that water is hot enough to boil or close to, take it out, pour it in the pan. It will be violent.
- Do a quick stir, throw the lid on, and turn the heat down to the lowest setting. The water should fully cover the rice.
- Walk away. The bottom might toast a little, but that is fine as long as it doesn’t full on burn.
After 20 minutes or so, you can do a real quick check and if it looks kind of wet, throw the lid back on and wait.
At this point, you should have perfectly acceptable rice. Take the lid off, stir the rice with a more folding motion to let it steam any additional moisture out.

1·1 month agoYeah, on the rpi thing. I know someone who uses something like that for EverQuest. The gist is it looks for monster spawns and can display them on a map instead of camping a spot for over an hour, sometimes more, to get an item you need. The amount of people who use it on some of these servers is supposedly pretty high and it is just looking at network packets I believe. This is a case where I can find it acceptable, especially for an old game that is mostly played by people who have jobs.
I can’t fathom cheating though in online games and as a woman I have zero desire to play FPS games with a bunch of immature assholes that will torture me if they find out my gender. The only online FPS I played as a kid that was a positive experience was Serious Sam 1 & 2. A lot of German players I remember. Only other online PVP I liked was in Guild Wars 1.
Autistic and neurodivergent people are the only ones I can even begin to relax enough to have a conversation. I have a lot of baggage and being undiagnosed in school was extremely damaging. I love to talk, but I make people uncomfortable. So I usually just sit quietly somewhere, move seats/tables as bigger groups want the space, and eventually leave once the anxiety/torture becomes too overwhelming.
Just be sure to not damage cables with plastic zip ties or other things that crimp the wires inside.
You have to walk… barefoot. My feet are messed up and I have some impressive callouses on the balls of my feet. They are a little better after surgery, but recovery sucked. Ultimately, your feet build up protection. Caking on mud probably helped. Animal skins, rudimentary sandals from various plants, and other natural resources could provide extra protection. Unfortunately, we have built an environment made for shoes and evolution is doing the rest. Walking on pavement is not great without shoes. Especially when it bakes. Walking on soil and grass feels a lot better.
2·2 months agoI deny it every single time it asks. I wish it would take the hint and stop asking. I have an iPad and a Pixel and both app stores are complete cancer. I only open Google Play a couple times a year, but I am usually opening the Apple one to force everything to update.

2·2 months agoDue to Sync, it is always an eyesore of huge images due to the multiple links. I just blocked the bot so I can move on. I should dig through my settings again to find a happy medium.
Hey, I appreciate you at least. At my old job they had a big office in Monterrey, and they were some of the most hard working teams I had the pleasure to work with. I absolutely lost my shit if anyone treated them any differently and I hated how the company ran that division. Working with those teams is the only thing I miss.
The fact that they always had to get permission for any time off from the team leads, were scrutinized for every cent, and often not even given the tools they needed for their job, all in the name of “saving” money, was absolute bullshit. There really were some ridiculous double standards. We never denied time off and purchased what you needed. We knew how shitty the system was and did what we could.
So, one shitty American to an awesome Mexican, thank you. For every cook, every maid, field slave, factory worker, engineer, installer, and human from your country that just wants to exist somewhere safe, feed their family, and have a roof over your head, thank you.

Yup…and she still won! I am not from Mexico personally, but that has to irk the cartels just a wee bit.
I have to peel it all anyways. The skin on most fruit is like daggers going into my sensitive teeth. Always been that way. Plums are the worst and I gave up. Apples are everywhere in Upstate NY, so that is what I usually get.
Do you eat berries? Those I have to put in the fridge or they go bad fast. I try and get local, which last longer, but I swear raspberries go bad the moment you bring them home.
I put my bread in the microwave as I never use it. I might as well call my microwave a bread box. However, if it gets really humid I may put the bread in the fridge for a day or two.
I love cold condiments and fruit. My dad put Pepto Bismol and eye drops in the fridge.

It was the best custard ice cream I ever created. Made the base with a sous vide. Chef Steps has(?) the recipe, but I did some experiments with blueberries that was next level the best shit I ever made that I will unlikely ever be able to duplicate again.
