  • Bro just stop already. You like guns, it’s a neat little hobby, and you’re getting angry because people want to end it. I get that. My hobby is retro video games/consoles, and if it turned out that they were a threat to society and people wanted to take them away, I probably wouldn’t do the sane/rational/adult thing and accept it. I’d fight to defend my god given right to own a Wii, and I’d get into angry bad faith arguments on the internet in a desperate attempt to protect my cherished pastime.

…but I’d be wrong, I’d be an asshole, and I probably wouldn’t realize it. I like to think that I’d have the self-awareness to not fall into that trap, since I generally consider myself to be self-aware, but also I really love this hobby and it’s a big part of my life, so it could go either way.

Despite the issues, and knowing that a different phone would get me a much better value at a lower price, I was going to buy one of these.

…but then I saw it wasn’t available in the US. So I went with a (used) Pixel 7 on ebay instead. Considering this is the 5th iteration and they still don’t have a US variant, I’m not going to get my hopes up. I know Murena sells a US variant of the Fairphone 4, but apparently it uses the same exact modem, so using it in the US will result in connectivity issues.

    at least I’m recycling!

  • I was walking my dog through my neighborhood once, and one of my stupid ass neighbors had his dog loose in his garage with the door open across the street. When it saw me, it charged at us, barking aggressively. It didn’t attack me, it just stood a few feet away baring its teeth and barking while his overweight owner waddled over to it armed with a sandle. I think it was a labrador.

If it was a pitbull though I’d likely be missing a limb or two today.

  • I have an iPhone as my only phone, and a Pixel sitting in a closet. Not sure why I’d want to use both. Emulation on mobile isn’t something I do anymore, but if I did, it is possible to sideload on iOS with some extra effort. It’s not as easy as Android, but I’d say it’s worth considering before deciding to go with two phones.

You can use either the official Apple sanctioned way, where you manually install via Xcode every few weeks or pay $100/year for a dev certificate, OR use something like SideStore. No jailbreaking required.
