Sure, consoles next gen are going to cost more but so do PC components and ports are infamously unoptimized. People in tech savvy communities also underestimate the value of a mostly plug and play experience.

The problem here is that I don’t see Sony reversing their decision and when the market leader does something the rest of the pack follows. Microsoft will undoubtedly scrap a disc drive for their nextgen PC/Console hybrid. The new disc to digital feature is just a means to soften the blow. So, whatever fuss we raise it doesn’t really matter. Sony has already decided to take the hit and move on.

While technically correct, I feel this record is a bit misleading, at least as it’s been reported. When a minister resigns or there is some reshuffling in the government formally the PM is actually forming a new government so it’s quite common for PMs to lead more than a government during their term. Meloni simply didn’t need to shuffle anyone so far.

Control is an amazing game, I recently replayed it before finally starting Alan Wake 2 (it’s so damn good!) and while perhaps a bit too easy the story is imho one of the best in the medium.

I think that as a community we should try to keep android as open as possible first of all. I daily drive GrapheneOS for instance and I don’t feel the need for a Linux phone. I get that both can coexist but I’m afraid we won’t be able to carve a big enough niche to make Linux phones work.

While I fully agree and support Codeberg stance on vibecoded projects I’m not sure I follow their reasoning here. For instance they complain about webcrawlers scraping their site to train their LLM models but I don’t see why getting rid of the vibecoded repositories wouldn’t make them more palatable for scrapers. A site full of human made code is infinitely more useful to those companies than a slop infested honeypot.

A friend of mine is restoring an old muscle car and I bet he’d love something like this as well. It’s a niche but we Linux enthusiasts can be quite passionate so I do think the audience is out there for sure.

This makes a lot of sense actually. It’d be awesome to have more options for head units. I’m not sure about the target though, amateurs working on their car or restoring old models? I don’t see a lot of companies choosing a Linux based head unit for their cars. But the same argument could be said for Linux phones too.

I fail to see the point. The company sells laptops with Ubuntu preinstalled not phones which are the targets of such apps. Linux phones are still in their infancy and for Android we do have excellent apps like Mapy pulling their data from OSM. What am I missing?
