While I would love this to be a reference to The Expanse, they’re probably talking about the former president of the Philippines. Rodrigo Duterte had a policy of basically legalized vigilante murder for suspected drug dealers.

The off the shelf commercial parts (game controller, computer monitors, etc) weren’t that bad of an idea… the bad idea was to not get anything that was fire safety rated. That whole submersible was a fire trap.
Naive libertarian.
But you repeat yourself.
It feels like a part of that deregulation politicians keep going on about. Deregulation ruined the airlines and now they’re ruining our buttholes… when is enough enough?
Lol at the idea of gendered buttholes… like a dude burning down a California town celebrating his butthole’s gender reveal.
Awe… I like Arby’s. Their curly fries are easily on my top 10 best fastfood fries.
Yeah, more clean but not completely… this is not to mention the amount of damage caused by the bomb. Striking Kiev or another city would effectively decimate Ukraine’s infrastructure and economy for decades. If the goal of the war is to subjugate, you don’t want to be in the hook for all those repairs. A nuke on any of Ukraine’s cities would make that dam break last year look like nothing.
If Russia were to strike Ukraine with a nuclear bomb, first and foremost that puts every nation on a knife’s edge globally… someone else with an itchy trigger finger could launch against Russia in the confusing hours afterwards. Next up, the PRC and India would likely abandoned Russia as waves of condemnation would flood the global media. Finally, the whole goal of the war is to take Ukraine, not to make it uninhabitable… why nuke what you want to own?
Unlikely. There’s kind of only two hard-and-fast rules for nuclear war:
It could be actual suicide as well… many GOP party adjuncts and elected officials have been receiving death threats for not falling exactly in line with even Trump’s most vaguest of whims.
Well, I never thought it was weird until now. My polling place is the local Jewish community center (I’m not Jewish). It’s not a synagogue or temple or anything, just like a big rec space with classrooms, a daycare, and admin offices. They have a summer camp every year and a food festival in the fall. It’s super convenient being like three blocks from my house. When I lived in a different part of town, I voted at an old folks home that I think was run by a church, but I’m not sure. There’s a public elementary school right down the street, but it’s much smaller than the community center with a lot less parking.
The porn hasn’t been very good. I can get around dudes and chicks with like fourteen fingers, no toes, and nipples that hover over their skin… but I draw the line at the dirty talk being “I’m glad I could help you with that.”
I was wondering the other day why I hadn’t really seen them this cycle.
While we sound rabidly pro-Taiwanese, the US diplomatic position on the PRC/ROC is some wild Cold War type shit. Technically, we recognize both claims as claims that both organizations have made and that both organizations have the right to make those claims. Vague as vague can get. The State Department was seriously like “we agree to disagree… with ourselves.”
Thinking about it now… Rosie the Robot was presented to the viewer as a being that was basically sentient and fully self aware. In fact, she could and did fall in love at one point. Like… the family owned her. She was a possession. Was that slavery? Is the future depicted in “The Jetsons” a slave based one?

The Brian Herbert books aren’t bad, but don’t go into them thinking that the writing will be the same as his father. I’ve read a few of them through the anti AI Jihad timeline. They’re not terrible but they feel a little rushed compared to Frank’s writing… not “we need to get these out for the sake of the IP” like how Disney is just printing Marvel movies, but more like “meh, it could be better, but that’s as good as we’re gonna get it for now, just publish it.”
If a Democrat wins a statewide election in Texas that would send shockwaves through the American political norms. It’d be the Georgia 2020 Senate elections and runoffs but on steroids. Serious Republicans know that when (not if) Texas becomes a presidential election swing state it’s just about over. The Democrats could ignore Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and Florida to focus solely on winning Texas… meanwhile a cash strapped GOP would have to fight in Texas while also spending money in all those other swing states. They haven’t had to really fight for Texas since like 1980, they might not even have the ground game infrastructure to pull it out of a tail spin if Texas goes purple. The Republican party would still be around in the Senate, House, and governor’s mansions, but hope for a Republican president would be over for like a decade at least… if the party doesn’t crumble from such an event, with donors fleeing to found new parties.
Especially in the books. Duarte in the books is just like all the worst parts of Caesar (which I guess was part of the idea the writers had).
