movies@piefed.social•Psychologically uncomfortable films like Funny Games (1997)English
4·16 days ago- The Killing of a Sacred Deer which feels very inspired by Funny Games.
- Beau is Afraid one of the most anxiety-inducing films I’ve ever seen. Might’ve just me though, the weirdness made me very uneasy.
- Be My Cat: A Film For Anne which I recently found about and was surprised by how much I liked it.
Someone already mentioned it, but Man Bites Dog fits the category really well and is a very interesting watch.
I’ve seen this meme like 5 times already and continues to be a recent favorite
I didn’t know there was drama behind the later lineup. What happened?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Sight reading musicians of Lemmy, do you hear the notes in your head as you read?
4·23 days agoFun fact: you know how you can maintain a conversation while listening to music, but it’s awful hard to do so while reading text? Well, musicians trained to do so can read a music sheet while talking because “reading music” triggers the same brain bit that is used to process music, so they’re effectively “listening” to the music while talking.
Also, I’ve heard 3 different orchestra conductors say that no orchestra performs better, no matter the piece, than the one in their minds.
There really is one for everything huh
Damn that flew right over me…
This would stump even me. Why is it raptor-specific? Maybe I just have overly-sweaty hands.
I know you’re thinking about the classic RPG experience, but your description very accurately describes being in the army lol. Makes me think about what the NPCs’ perspective is about the hero’s hijinks. Maybe I’ve now matured enough that I can finally feel bad about abusing Nazeem?
Or you could just… you know… not use Google.
I… guess? It’s kinda amusing seeing a meme where the punchline involves socialism, and it being so mild and innocent. Such neutrality is somewhat refreshing.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's that thing the internet insists you be outraged about but you just can't bring yourself to care?
5·1 month agoThe M4’s Hobbit version has vastly improved my opinion of the Hobbit movie(s). I now include it in my yearly LOTR marathon.

5·2 months agoAre these the same dude from the Banshees of Inisherin? I’d love to see more of these two together.
EDIT: Just saw in another comment this is In Bruges, and it’s indeed the same two actors.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You find yourself teleported onto the stage of a TED talk right NOW with a large audience. What topic do you speak about?
3·2 months agoI’d love to watch a Ted on that, sounds meta interesting. I tried searching for something on the subject on YT but only found grammar/language-oriented videos. The identity construction molding the culture due to their language structure sounds like an amazing rabbit hole to learn about.

4·2 months agoYeah, that’s what you get when you teach people to want a wedding. I’ve met lots of people like that, they don’t care who they’re marrying but just the fact that they’re getting married. Why did we decide the partnering event is more important than whom you’re getting partnered with?

3·3 months agoI like your style and the tone of your humour. I feel like it does its own thing and it has its particular brand of funny. All this to say that I look forward to following your work until I’m able to finally get your book.
I honestly hate this kind of “deals”. I only want one pencil, and don’t really want to hoard just because of a “good deal”, so I end up just buying below the deal amount and getting weird looks by the cashier. “But for an extra $5 you get two more products!” I know, I don’t care. I value more the peace of mind that comes form having an uncluttered space.
