I wondered the same thing.
It’s definitely the best one after Sync.

I’m spending way more time!
I didn’t really like the community in Reddit that much. I used it more like a news feed. So I never read ‘all’, I just read my subs for a few minutes here and there, but I didn’t post and comment much.
Since coming here I post and comment a lot more. There seems to be more proper discussion here, despite being much smaller and quieter.
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
In terms of blocking ads, I run Adguard (lifetime sub), which blocks ads system wide - even in apps.
Synced bookmarks could be good though.
On desktop it’s mainly Firefox, on mobile it’s mainly the stock Samsung browser.
But I’ve started using Edge a bit more on mobile lately since I discovered its reading mode, which makes for a very clean readable format to read articles.
Yes, Connect For Lemmy had this.
Nah, 3-6 days max.
OK, so I’ve known a number of Scottish people and I’ve been there a couple of times and generally had no issue understanding them.
However, when working in London years ago, I had to talk to someone based in Scotland on the phone and her accent was just insane.
Honestly it was exactly like this post, she’d say something, I’d say sorry what and this repeated 3 times then…we both burst out laughing. The most insane Scottish accent ever!
Yeah exactly.
I’ve stayed in apartments a lot when travelling, but I’ve never used AirBNB. Not because of any reason against them, but I’ve just tended to use other online services/sites.
It’s weird these numbers are so small, it should feel dead. But there are a lot of great discussions and a lot of good laughs to be had here.
The level of engagement for the very small numbers here must be quite impressive.
I guess it’s the old quality vs quantity.
Agreed. I recently discovered Affinity Photo 2 on my iPad and love it.
Would be great if a smaller mobile version were released for my Android phone.
It’s not a full replacement of Photoshop, but Photo Studio Pro is the best one I’ve found. It has a pretty good background replacement function that blends two photos.

For “official” Android products, maybe eventually.
In fact I can see a future where all computing/devices are locked down and become appliances, much like your tv or fridge.
You use them how you’re “meant to”. Sideloading? Programming? Tweaking? Why do you need to do that, are you a terrorist?
I hope we don’t get to that world, but for a while now I’ve been thinking it looks like a possible outcome.
Lol, sounds like a downgrade 😅
Great discussion.
Because it’s happened gradually I’ve just gotten used to Google being less and less useful.
It’s good to try something else.
This thread made me try Perplexity, Kagi and SearXNG. I’ll give them all a run over the next week or so and see how they go.
What is different about the pro version?
Thanks for the suggestion I hadn’t heard of this.
I just tried it to find some simple info that I struggled finding last night because I had to shovel through so much crap with Google. It definitely did a better job than Google did.
It’s sad how far the Goog had fallen.
Thank you for your hard work getting this working. It’s much appreciated :)
Connect for Lemmy.
It’s being updated to add features and fix bugs pretty much daily. Which means it is improving at a crazy speed.
It’s come a long way since I first started using it - about 3 days ago!
Some will.
Not sure how big a number that some will be though.
For people that use 3rd party apps, suddenly they won’t work. They’ll try the Reddit app, some won’t be happy when they see how it looks and some of those will look at alternatives.
Quite possibly some users have already heard about something called Lemmy, but haven’t been bothered to leave Reddit. If their app stops working, that might be enough to make them take a look.
There will be a bit of a surge. It won’t suddenly be millions.
Some forums are still reasonably active. I use Whirlpool fairly regularly. Mostly tech related, but has lots of other sections too.
