  • My English learning process was me being a eight year old kid who wanted to play diablo. No clue about shit. Barely able to read in the first place and just going from one word which is similar to one in my native language to the next similar one. Like “ok, intelligence looks a lot like intelligenz. Dexterity makes my bow do more damage so it should be something like speed or whatever” so basically trial and error over the years. The pronunciation was accordingly. As an example, strength was “stren g t hö”. Not sure how I’m supposed to write what i said back then xD Still to this day from reading and such and not practicing enough speaking English some are way off.

Here’s a little snippet from the documentation of lemmy.ml and lemmy.world. I understand it as meaning that the downvote is actually there to express a negative opinion about something you don’t like.

Lemmy uses a voting system to sort post listings. On the left side of each post there are up and down arrows, which let you upvote or downvote it. You can upvote posts that you like so that more users will see them. Or downvote posts so that they are less likely to be seen. Each post receives a score which is the number of upvotes minus number of downvotes.

  • ok. never heard of that. the more you know i guess. but I’d say that it is totally unnecessary in this case and a bit of a stretch. or maybe I don’t fully understand it. it’s 2 am where i live and I’m tired. so i could totally be wrong 😅 maybe i give it another try tomorrow.
