I didnt see the fireworks since we were at my parents house for the day, but we had a bunch of smaller fireworks to set off in the backyard. I took 1 video of it that was like a minute long and panned to my parents and my kids because im starting to get to the age where I realize that my parents won’t be around to much longer, or if they are they wont be like they are now and my kids are just growing so dam fast. I hope one day, it will be nice to have this one min video to hear everyone laugh and play from this moment in time.

Funny enough, I had the complete opposite experience. I didn’t necessarily use Samsung then either, but I would get the phone that was normally rated the best or highly reviewed. I think i came from an LG to the first pixel phone. Pixel was the first phone to ever give me issues. Felt it vibrate one day in my pocket and I looked at it a few min later and it was in permanent boot loop. Tried a lot of things, but my one regret was forgetting to turn on developer options with the usb so essentially the phone was bricked. I couldn’t access it or do anything, everytbing was lost and support was no help and told me they couldn’t replace it. Last time I used them. I also wasn’t a fan of how hard they tried copying an iPhone at the time. Since them I’ve mostly used a Samsung either the Note and now the higher end galaxies and love them. Only thing I dislike is their own line of apps for everything that I disable immediately.

I agree, but don’t forget that every year, things get harder because everything is trying to find more ways to take that extra money from you. From schools, companies, and government they are all figuring out ways to come up with new mandatory requirements for stuff that normally ends up being a new fee or payment on top of what you used to need. For example when you are in school, you probably need way more certifications in things which costs more money either by a 1 time fee or sometimes yearly fees and a lot of this never existed 20-30 years ago. I feel like we pay for literally everything, and it all keeps going up as well. It’s hard to get ahead when everyone wants a piece of your pie.

People being ok with their own lives being uprooted for someone who should mean absolutely nothing to them is insane.

Thankfully, nothing like that has happened here, but we have a break glass account that only 2 people know of, and it’s locked in a safe. Also, my place has gotten so good at firing people they know how and when to do it to minimize risk. Like end of day when they are all packed up, and if its a really high up person, top admins are contacted prior and held on standby to disable everything as soon as the word is given. This includes admins. If they are remote, they will normally lock them out of the laptop first and make sure access is gone before letting them know.

My wife has that option as well. It takes 10% out of each paycheck, and she gets 1 additional check in the summer months of the money that was withheld. We are terrible with money, so doing that is a must, but I do wish we could just set that up ourselves instead of allowing them to hold that money.

It’s true, but not always fun or paid. Depends on the contract. A non tenured teacher can be let go at the end of the school year, and they normally let them know if they are coming back before leaving for the summer. They are then allowed to collect unemployment for the summer, but i am not sure if this applies to every state. If you are tenured, you do not lose unemployment status, but you are also not paid for the summer months either. You either set aside the money from the year yourself or use the program they offer that takes 10% out of each paycheck, and they deposit it once per month you are off.

Just like real life, it takes time, but eventually, we all get to the do drugs part.

Honestly, im still big into gaming so im not sure how I missed this. I did have kids, I do have way to many responsibilities, but that just means I don’t play much or at all lol. I still keep up with most of the latest news and watch trailers. The substitute for E3 was always the dumb company showcases that happen around the same time and this year I think summer game fest had a lot of new stuff to show. I am strictly website news only, I never got into podcasts like it seems the entire world is now.

In this particular case, it’s timing. Saw the reboot with my wife since we were excited to see the return. Both thought it was ok. Saw next one at home, and I think we skipped the 3rd. This is the 4th one in the reboot, right? Lol. This one, my wife is taking the kid to see it in theaters because now he is interested in dinosaurs and started watching some of the movies over the past year including the Netflix animated show (which i saw some of with him and from what I saw seemed way better than it should have been). So they release long enough, and you start getting new generations to take notice of who are young enough to not put so much thought into how awful they really are. The name sells.

I keep reminding my wife about the schools. The town we picked is not considered good by any means for schooling, but I always say the worst here is still better than elsewhere! We have had a few years experience now that our kid is in them and outside a few things that were noticeable (my wife is a teacher) they didnt seem as bad as the rating makes them seem.

Yeah, things are weird today. Back in the day getting the meal deal numbers 1 through whatever seemed to get you the best price. Now I cant remember the last time I just picked the number to order. With the apps and other deals they set up, they make us go through hoops to get somewhat decent pricing. App normally offers free fry and they run the pick 2 where 2nd is a dollar and you can choose a double cheeseburger, 6 piece nug, or small fry. So for around $4 you can get a 12 piece or a 6 piece and a double cheese. Not the worst deal for $4. Oh also being flexible about what you want helps, but also sucks.
