  • I’d agree with this - for Trump, it’s basically just a personality thing and his policies and what he says are less relevant (everyone knows he’s just a joker that talks crap… so you should ignore what he ACTUALLY says and trust that he will deliver… sth like that) whereas for Harris, people listen to what she doesn’t say and expect that she’s hiding the fact that she’ll install surgeries in schools to do stealthy operations so she can send Harry home as Harriette…

I do feel more optimistic that the world can be saved from more Trump - but it’s not yet guaranteed.

  • Also consider - don’t sign in to YouTube. Set uBlock, and Sponsorblock, too - so when youtube does get watched, the ads and promotions get skipped.

Everyone here is missing the point - by signing in to YouTube, you give Google more power to dominate your life.

With a simple inoreader extension in Firefox, you can visit a youtube/youtuber/video page and subscribe the feed.

Search interesting channels and save them to Feedly, or Inoreader.

Pin those to Firefox, so that your feeds are always refreshed and visible.

  • To begin with, I’d stop her using the YouTube website logged in.

Set her up with Inoreader - then when you find something interesting, you can visit the ‘video’ page and subscribe to the feed…

If you log her out, that will mean she just uses it without logging in - which works ok for feeds. She can browse, but it’s fresh.

Just a few suggestions that work for me - via RSS feed (not subscribed in Youtube):

    • Juicy Life
    • Sci Show
    • Simonscat
    • FailArmy
    • Daily Dose
    • Vlad Vexler
    • Big Think

With inoreader it’s a simple task to mark all items in a folder as read if you want to skip them. Also, with the inoreader account you can log in remotely at any browser, then you can find stuff you think is cool and subscribe - then that will show up in her feeds.

    Not only video/youtube.

I love this site, I found a couple of dozen and added them in pyradio app so I’ve always got interesting listening when I don’t want to stare at the screen.

  • You know that Google and Reddit own the internet - so just go there, and make sure you’re using a Chromium based browser because that’s the market share too.

That way, you can work to create a Fediverse whilst Google and friends succeed in closing all the loops to take total control of your internet and browser.

Other people will say they ‘search’.

Part of the marketing strategy is to make Microsoft, Google, Reddit etc the default.

    Why reinforce it?

The issue is becoming accessible to Search.

Not specifically to become accessible to Google.

Here’s one example of something I found OUTSIDE the fediverse via search.

I use SearXNG, but I remember that one came via Qwant search and NOT via Google.

Language IS very important here, and it’s important to avoid always using ‘default’ branded options which are not and should never be considered the default.

  • If you wish to find stupid questions, then you should basically scroll down to find one.

Is there a well established definition for this?

I find that questions answered with the first few results of a simple search (and thus by extension also by simply scrolling down a page listing questions) would certainly fit this criteria.

And so, for sure, I can state that this is one of those Stupid Questions which you seek are asking US to find for YOU.

It is made more stupid by the fact that you assume that what’s mildly interesting to a person of your intellect would not appear stupid and childish to someone of more average, or above average intelligence.

I hope this answers your question.

A close second might be this one:

Actually, it’s more interesting to look at how a ‘stupid question’ should be answered… as I frequently encounter from people who join forums and ask questions without having any knowledge.
