About the possible complaining: I would say this is the perfect amount of detail/suggestion that can appeal just about everyone. You want to feel cute by wearing a short pleated skirt? Win! You are entitled to that opinion but probably not an active member of the community, or appreciate some peoples’ desire to do one or both of these things. One more that is outside of the swarm survival genre, Child of Light. Though there is a fun and endearing story that irecommend, once you get through the first 20 minutes, you can kind of just not care and enjoy the simple but interesting play style of an almost-turned-based RPG.
