  • Ridley Scott did not create Alien. Dan O’Bannon did. He even workshopped the idea with John Carpenter in Dark Star (though we could argue its origins back to 1958’s “IT: The Terror from Beyond Space” as well…).

Ridley Scott was a HIRE. He has no further claim to the direction of the franchise. Just pisses me off to no end that he came in with dopey ideas that no one working on the first film would have put up with and destroyed the mystery of the franchise, and worse, connected it to Earth.

The thing I loved about the space jockey was the idea that “it’s all happened before, this thing that is about to happen to you”… An extremely nasty thing from an unknown nasty place. Both the space jockey and we lifted up the wrong rock.

  • It’s the major reason Kurt Russell’s wife doesn’t want him working on the film (where he ends up fighting Bruce Lee), though there are others. But I didn’t see it in the theater, so I’m not sure what I saw was only extended edition stuff. But the version I saw, somebody talks about rumors that he killed his wife, and that her death wasn’t really an accident. etc.; then a bit later there’s a flashback to him on a boat with his wife, and they’re both drunk, and she’s verbally tearing him apart. He’s sitting in a lounge chair with a beer in his hand, and she just won’t shut up. Then he looks at a speargun off to his side.

Then they cut away with the implication that whatever happened to her, she earned it.

  • Because they were saying “this one way approach didn’t work for me” and they didn’t like it being presented as it was. And they described their approach as what worked for them. They never said that their approach worked for everybody.

You said “you fix you”, while they were saying they couldn’t and needed external help. You seem to have a problem with reading comprehension yourself
