OP is either a time traveller or a liar. Hybrid theory came out 24th October 2000. That was around 23 years 11 months ago. If they were 15 at release then the oldest they could be right now is 38 years 11 months, not 40. Such brazen dishonesty.

        Wait, really? D:

Her Wikipedia page seems to have expanded very quickly over the past few weeks and some PR person seems to have done some CYA on there.

she was born into it because iirc her parents are one, and its less of a story of her converting to one.

my opinion is that of course, theres basically no replacing Chester, but as a group they need to leverage what she can do and hopefully push out a banger. Need to not look at the past too long and look ahead

People are going way too hard on that shit. The most recent link to Scientology is a picture from 2013. The Masterson stuff she released a statement saying she attended the preliminary hearing, but dissociated from him when the evidence came to light.

She has avoided talking about Scientology but I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for now. They are a seriously scary bunch to deal with and I wouldn’t blame her for not directly denouncing them in fear of what they may do. We’re talking about a corrupt organisation which actively destroys the lives of its dissenters without remorse.

I’m sure Mike would not vibe well with a genuine rape apologist and mental health denier given Chester’s past. At the end of the day, even if I don’t trust Emily 100%, I trust Mike Shinoda, and if he says she’s cool, then I’m willing to believe him.

Taking aside her court appearances. I’ve only heard her on some YouTube recordings of live shows. I wasn’t impressed. I wanted her to be really good and I’m excited they’re trying to start the band back up. Her performance just didn’t hit. Maybe it was the recording. Replacing Chester Bennington is gonna be hard.

If you’re talking about the live show they did in LA, then yeah, she struggled there. I personally think she’s been doing much better now that the tour is underway.

She’s not there to replace Chester, and I appreciate how much she lets the crowd sing his songs. As Mike put it, we’re the ones standing in for Chester. Emily is just a new addition ❤️

I’m not trying to disparage anyone who likes Linkin Park, but my opinion is that, in general, alt rock from the late 90s through the early 00s has aged really poorly. I used to listen to that music a ton when I was in high school and college, but I don’t anymore.

Yeah, I tend to agree, although I recently went back and listened to Incubus recently, and it’s mostly pretty good (although still dated)

The Mars Volta and White Stripes are still solid, too. Oasis still sounds ok, and Radiohead is obviously phenomenal, but they are far and away the exceptions. There was some good stuff that made it to alt rock radio stations, but the “dominating the world” bands are pretty bad now. Papa Roach, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, etc. should be relegated to the dustbin of history

As someone who listened to a lot of this music back then, In general I agree with you that a lot of it has aged poorly… but not Hybrid Theory.
