I say good on Scott. He makes a good point by explaining why “slavery as job training” isn’t just offensive, but factually wrong. Conservatives listen to Scott; they vote for him. This is a good thing.
Maybe I’m sentimental. Being a lefty from the deep south changes how you look at things. I remember him standing next to Hailey when they finally took the diet-swastika off the Statehouse grounds. And maybe I grade him on a curve because of who he replaced. Or maybe the standard for national Republican has dropped so low, that appearing to be a decent person seems exceptional.
