I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Nothing will change in this country until we take action of some kind to limit propaganda outlets like (and primarily) Fox News.

Fox News is an existential threat to democracy at this point. Even if causation is hard to prove, it seems so stupifyingly obvious that Fox News is why we got Trump, why the country cannot even agree on baseline realities like the results of the 2020 election, and why we faced and are likely to face again a violent insurrection. It’s been well-documented to intentionally function as right-wing propaganda. It should not be allowed to be called “news,” and there should be a national push to hold it accountable.

You do understand that the headline literally contraindicates your hot take, don’t you? I’m infuriated by the actions of Republicans in the current political era as much as the next rational human is, but you’re just sinking into tribalism with that quip.

Make fun of shit that deserves to be made fun of. Rationally consider the shit that deserves to be rationally considered.

The survey compared those who watch Fox with those who watch neutral outlets like CNN. Those getting news from Fox were 100% planning to vote for Trump. Those watching neutral outlets had a minority who would not.

Changing media diet makes a really big difference

“neutral outlets like CNN”…listen, I’m all for shining as much light as possible on the disgrace to journalism that is Fox “News”, but CNN is about as neutral as sulfuric acid.

This. NPR is even left leaning (I’m progressive), but Reuters and AP News, more often than not, seems the least bias - least.

Yes! AP and Reuters are great! Those two basically comprise my entire news feed, supplemented by a handful of other sources that fall on either side of center (bias-wise).

You gotta tell them to go out and get more fresh air. It’s unhealthy to watch too much TV. It’s the same thing they told us when we were kids. It’s time to play that Uno reverse.

My dad WAS a republican that didn’t watch fox news. A true fiscal conservative.

Then Trump got the nomination in 2016 and he has voted blue ever since.

Actually, I think he might have voted for Obama on the first term too. I remember him being very upset about Palin. “Who the heck is this crazy lady?!”

So yeah, non indoctrinated Republicans at least used to exist. But the ones still holding on in 2024? Must live in heavily conservative areas.
