Most of the folks I know with shops, tractors, and land tend to have been raised in that same environment and perpetuate that lifestyle when/if they’re able to do so.
So much to say that in rural Missouri at least, people tend to have more access to the knowledge and skills to butcher meat (typically wild game) than they do to machine shops and tractors with hydraulics.
Truth, I have family and friends that know very well how to make do with much less equipment. Most people would understand the resources needed to fatten a single cow to slaughter let alone a herd all the while hoping there’s no complications during birthing and anything else (cows and horses are some of the most intentional self injuring animals around cuss they’re so damn curious). Larpers like this fantasize but then don’t realize why farm hands and laborers all look like they have a hunchback and bad knees by their forties.
