Nothing important here. I just want to see how many people are moving away from Reddit.

As far as I understand federation, all instances update each other over ActivityPub (think RSS for instances). You can interact with any content on any other federated instance EXCEPT make a community on an instance you’re not on.

I’ve been here a few days and the federation thing is slowly making sense. Give it time and welcome aboard!

yeah. think of it like email.

Instead of being username on reddit youre now username@instance. As long as your instance and my instance are set to talk then its like we are on one big server. I can sub to communities out of my instance and post content and others can do the same with communities on my instance

if you see a community on a different instance that you cant find on yours you can even paste the whole link in the community search bar and if you are the first subscriber from your instance you’ll add it to the search bar for your whole instance (as long your instances talk)

It’s pretty dang cool and now that its got momentum I cant wait to see where it goes
