I don’t see any comments right now, but I believe you’re right. I’m leaving my account open until reddit re-opens all the private subs, then I’ll do it again.
Edit the comment first before deleting it. Otherwise it still exists. Reveddit is a good example of how your comment isn’t really deleted, but if you edit, that’s the version people will see
I believe I did this, but I’ll have to check. Pretty sure they’ll be resurrecting my comments shortly anyway, since without the users’ content they have nothing to sell, so I’ll have another chance to make sure they’re all edited.
Saddest thing for me is that Reddit had a lot of valuable knowledge its users had gathered throughout the years. I have more than once found the answer to a technical problem over on Reddit. I am sad to see that go but hope we can build something similar over here in the fediverse hopefully forever.
I’ve felt torn about deleting all my years of comments for this reason. I don’t want to keep from benefiting Reddit, but at the same time, it’s sad to stop benefitting average Internet users.
I just want to mention that much of the reddit content is archived in archive.org and there’s a Firefox extention to direct Reddit links to archive.org. That way you can access past content without giving Reddit any traffic : Reddit to Wayback Machine
Here I am! Deleted all 1700+ comments from my account today and I’ll check back to make sure Reddit doesn’t try to reinstate them.
Comments on any subs that are still private can’t be deleted until they’re active again

How did you do that? Is there a tool for this?
Power Delete Suite: https://codepen.io/j0be/full/WMBWOW/ Just create a bookmark, then open that bookmark while you’re in your user profile
Excellent stuff.
Thanks!
