My local library has garbage collection sticks that one can borrow and bring home 👍👌

They also have reusable bags that one can use to bring books home and return with the books when you’re done

That’s awesome. Happy for your libraries.

But fuck Denmark otherwise, for trying to push the Chat Control for the third fucking time. May your politicians rot in hell.

I pick up garbage with this exact model. It ever so slightly helps fight back against all the other depressing shit in the world.

Many libraries have expanded the materials they will lend to people; some have movies, tools, etc.

It’s a nice touch and makes your library both a pillar of community as well as adding even more reasons to frequent.

Libraries here don’t only lend out books. They have games, CD, board games, puzzles etc, They arrange knitting nights, have evenings where professors from local universities tell about their field and are of research as well as offer digital services like ebooks, film streaming and newspaper archives. They also have a book-bus that drives around with books, both delivering reservations, but also with basic inspirational range of books they bring up as themes.

Some even borrow tools, baking forms and music instruments!

Libraries are more of a cultural thing here, paid by the county, to strengthen the county

Although I am constantly disappointed with the state of social programs and funding in America, the one area where we sometimes can compete is in our libraries. My local library lends CDs, movies, and games. Not sure about puzzles. They have a publicly available 3d printer lab and computer lab. They have a large ebook catalogue, and while their film streaming service is frustratingly limited, it does exist. They have all sorts of community events. They host crafting nights.

They host speakers, especially authors, book signings, and special interest events. One of the events even calls itself a convention, you know like comicon, but… well… it’s not really big enough for that to actually make sense. It’s actually a pretty small local library.

Libraries to this day are a very cultural thing in America, and act like a community center. They are a place where even homeless people can go and not be too harassed. And on top of all that, they even lend out books!

Very nice! I live in a small city with 13000 people but the larger city close to us has a section with gaming PCs and a PlayStation 5 that anybody can play. They too have 3D printers and laser cutters plus personnel to help with these 👍

Libraries lend out all sorts of stuff! This is definitely on the more-odd side of offerings, but sounds like a good idea to me 🤷‍♂️ lower the burden of being a good person
