I get why it’s censored, and I think preventing misuse of the the word as is common in wider society is a good thing (Sports team A beat Sports team B) etc. but I’m not sure censoring the word itself makes it much less triggering.
If the word is being used correctly, then it’s the context of sexual violence that is the triggering part not that specific word, if the word is being used incorrectly then that misuse of the word should be dealt with, just as seeing “sports team a xxxx sports team b” will still be triggering even if the the word isn’t there it still shows the use of sexually violent words and mindset.
So IMHO censoring the word itself isn’t productive, it makes more difficult legitimate discussion, and doesn’t lessen the impact of misuse.
But also I have no skin in this game so whatever the opinion is people who are affected should obviously be prioritised over mine.
I think this would be a matter to discuss in a post in /c/hexbear so that some of the people most affected could weigh in with their opinions. I have seen people say in the past that the specific word can be triggering to them sometimes.
IIRC it’s censored because it can be triggering to some. People usually censor it as r*pe if they have to use it.
