I used to have a lot of less visible piercings, but I had a persistent intrusive thought about being rushed to an MRI while unconscious that I couldn’t get past. Implanting magnets in your body is insane.

A woman’s son was given an order for an MRI because of some heart problems. He was very nervous about it, but he didn’t want to tell his mom why.

His parents were divorced. Turns out, when he was staying with his father years ago and came home with a black eye, it wasn’t caused the way he described. He and his friends were playing with a BB gun, and he got shot in the eye, and the BB was still in there under the skin. His father made him promise not to tell his mother.

They put a magnet up to it, and it was attracted to the magnet. They had to get it removed so they could get the MRI.

The chef’s kiss to the story:

As a child, his mother had lost an eye after being shot with a BB gun.
