Man who’s never worked an honest day in his entire life tells people who do honest work to get back to work.
The most “work” Trump has ever done is filling one McDonald’s order for a photo op.

I’m sure replacing trained professionals in an already
underpaid1 and notoriously stressful job with whoever will work for free won’t cause any issues. Especially when those people will be responsible for navigating aircraft safely in ever more congested airspace.I had lurked the air traffic control subreddit back in the day and the situation was bleak. They have a fairly toothless union that keeps things from being as bad as they could be, but it was still hell. Underpaid hell for extremely skilled and critical labor. I’m amazed there haven’t been more mid air collisions and other atc involved mishaps just from overworking and burnout.
Note 1: I thought they were underpaid based on information I remembered but this appears to have been inaccurate.
The reason their union is toothless is they tried striking under Reagan and he fired them all (which directly feeds into why we’re now in the situation we’re in)

That’s wild that something like that, controlling massive multi-million dollar highly explosive objects isn’t a high paying job.
Speaking of which, teachers should be paid a lot more.
Absolutely.
They’re in control of the people who will be in control of highly explosive multi-million dollar flying objects
I was suggesting that the children are also highly-explosive multi-million dollar objects
The stress alone needs more compensation. Imagine making a mistake that causes a crash?
It’s somewhat high paying. The median salary is $70/hr or $150M/yr
Goes to show how fucked everything is where a $70/hr job still can’t afford the cost of living?
We need to shut down the bay area until we figure out what’s going on
They can definitely afford cost of living, maybe it was inexperienced controllers who were complaining about their salary that I remember. But from the statistics I’m seeing even the entry level controllers make okay money these days.
makes you wonder what life is if you need to make 4x what you are to have one
Odd I remember seeing posts from controller making much less but you’re right. Google says new inexperienced controllers make like $46k but I can’t find data to back that up.
It’s a pretty complicated scale with a lot of bonuses. An average controller probably makes ~40% of their income from overtime and bonuses, so that 46k is probably base income. The role and location also matters a lot. KLGA or KATL tower is going to make a lot more than KGCC ramp.
Don’t they also have an earlier mandatory retirement age than most other jobs?
Yes, 56 unless you are an exceptionally talented controller, in which case you can work till 61. You also need 20/20 (correctable) vision, can’t wear reading glasses, and can’t have had a psychiatric condition at any point in your life.
What does the mm/ of mm/yr mean in this context?
M means thousand and MM means thousand thousand (million). MM was a typo.
M means thousands in which system??
Edit: Oh roman.

It’s a fiance/accounting thing
Thank you!
The ATC training program has also been shut down. So these new hires would just have to read the manual and YOLO it without any training
Christ.
If labor supply does not keep up with demand, it is underpaid
ICE is too busy deporting all the people that were willing to nearly work for free. Good luck finding any willing “patriots” at the Home Depot for the next few years lmao
