DPRK Missile Administration Tests Important Weapon System
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) – The Missile Administration of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea successfully tested an important weapon system on October 22.
The test was overseen by Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), and Kim Jong Sik, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Jang Chang Ha, general director of the Missile Administration of the DPRK.
The new weapon system was tested as part of the defence capability development program to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of strategic deterrence against potential enemies.
Pak Jong Chon said that the new cutting-edge weapon system is a clear proof of steadily upgrading self-defensive technical capabilities of the DPRK, adding that the DPRK’s activities are evidently aimed to continue to bolster up the war deterrent and their purpose is to strengthen self-defence. Upon authorization of the Party Central Military Commission, he highly appreciated the defence science research group which is achieving radical successes in developing the weapon system of a new strategic value.

On an unrelated note, has anyone else noticed that the rhetoric around the DPRK being crazy has settled down a lot since they’ve gotten a missile that can hit DC?
The US conducted antagonistic military drills on the border of DPRK from August 20 to 28, called Ulchi Freedom Shield. So I think the US aggression is still present.
The cooling of rhetoric could be caused by many things. Trump cut funding to Radio Free Asia and National Endowment for Democracy, at one point.
South Korea also has a new president, Lee Jae Myung, who has been less hostile to DPRK, though DPRK said they don’t really like him. The previous President, Yoon Suk Yeol, was a friend of Biden and wanted South Korea to join NATO.
I saw a rumor that Trump wants to meet with Kim on his Asia trip next week.
e/ There’s also been the dozens of Western news stories about supposed North Korean hackers lately, claiming that the hackers steal bitcoins and get illegally hired by American businesses.
Rhetoric maybe yes, but USA and ROK still had like 250 days of armed provocations they call “drills” on the border just in 2024, and they expect more in 2025.
