Yeah, along the lines of the other comment, you don’t want a civil war. It might be the way things go, but it’s not going to be as nice as you think. It’s going to be brutal —worse than the last one, which was bad enough. There’s no real north/south divide anymore. It’s mostly rural VS urban, but it’s not as clean as that even.

It’s going to be neighbor VS neighbor, with martial law and fights everywhere. Probably most places won’t have power, or at least not adequate for their needs. There will be checkpoints on every street, and monitoring of where you’ve been and what you’ve done and said. It’ll be rough, and the constitution will likely be suspended until the war is over.

What comes after all that? I don’t even know. Whatever it is, whichever side wins, it won’t be a return to what we had. It’ll be decades after it’s over until things are even halfway functional again. I’d expect the war itself to last decades also. There will be foreign aid to both sides prolonging the war, and gorilla warfare probably on both sides that will be almost impossible to stamp out. It won’t be simple.
