The announcement follows Newsom’s 2024 executive order, which directed encampment cleanups after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling granted state and local governments more authority to remove them.

Certainly you just have more to say on this. There’s quite a history of California combating homelessness. What programs and tradeoffs have you seen that you prefer? There is diversity within the homeless community. How did you like to see the different groups managed?

California has a history of combating homeless people, you mean? I want all the diverse groups of people “managed” with compassion. I have worked with homeless people in California! I can tell you that what never helps anything, is having the cops come force people to move and abandon their meagre belongings. It is a fascist impulse to sic the cops on homeless people. Not only is it cruel, but it is also pointless. The cops that have to do it don’t even believe it helps anything. They just shuffle them around from place to place.
