Gal Gadot suggested that political pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel contributed to Disney’s Snow White underperforming at the box office, though she acknowledged other factors played a role.

The film, starring Gadot and Rachel Zegler, earned $87 million domestically compared to higher-performing Disney remakes; Zegler faced criticism for her pro-Palestine stance during promotion.

Gadot emphasized she enjoyed working with Zegler, said her “conscience is clean” regarding support for Israel, and expressed hope for peace and safety for all people.
Snow White failed because it was as just a bad idea…
I watched the movie. The CGI dwarfs didn’t bother me as much as I expected, but everything else was executed very poorly. Gadot was fucking terrible in the movie, and the “modernization” efforts just left the story garbled. It was a bad movie, and even my kids thought so.
Yeah… just like King Kong and Tarzan it is a story that belongs to a bygone era.
Exactly. Snow White is a fairy tale about a jealous tyrant consumed by vanity and fear of her own mortality. But we already got The Substance exploring those topics. And it’s a cautionary tale about accepting help and food from strangers showing up at your door, because you never know their motivations. But we got Sinners exploring that topic. And it’s a story about how industriousness does not replace cleanliness and organization at home. But that’s boring, and we have K-Pop Demon Hunters.
Really, modernizing the movie could have worked. Make a good film and a lot of other problems go away. The real issue is that it was a bad movie. Bad writing and bad acting. That one song was catchy, but the rest of the entire movie was forgettable.
