You entirely missed the point I was making. Americans made all those great things, the world depends on them, yet the average American has a worse quality of life and standard than even some 3rd world countries. Besides economy and military the USA lags behind on everything else that an average human values in his short lifetime.

Yes, you have great economy and great tech. Only shame that you can’t eat microprocessors nor can money buy happines. Oh, and btw, the only company in the world that builds the most sophisticated machines to build microchips - its the European ASML. If we turn the pipes, the world stops, not just the USA.

lol funny this came up today

From meme to movement: France’s online anti-tax revolt rattles Macron’s Elysée

“Nicolas qui paie” (Nicolas picks up the tab) has become a rallying call for white-collar workers who feel they are being overtaxed to fund a crumbling welfare system.

“It’s going to heat up in the autumn,” said a French official. “We’ve got to cut spending by 30 billion, and we’re not good at cutting.”

You should tell them to be happy with less :)

no i got exactly the point you were making, it literally comes up every time someone on lemmy points out that american businesses are doing better than european

there’s nothing to suggest europe can’t have a stronger business environment without turning into the usa

this is exactly what the EU is trying to achieve with the Competitiveness compass

The EU has everything it takes to unlock its full potential and drive faster, more sustainable growth: we boast a talented and educated workforce, capital, savings, the single market, and a unique social model. To restore our competitiveness and unleash growth, we need to tackle the barriers and weaknesses that are holding us back.

In January 2025, the Commission presented the competitiveness compass, a new roadmap to restore Europe’s dynamism and boost our economic growth.

btw you know china is building an asml rival yeah?
