Don’t know who needs to hear this but VPNs are allowed in China and can get around “censorship”. In general you can still access information abroad but China is dedicated to having their mass-media not be inflammatory. You can talk about Uighurs on RedNote, but you can’t level baseless accusations and expect those to stay up.

Because one is public access to the web, the other is a private platform, and not the web. Facebook and Instagram aren’t the web and aren’t open access to the world’s information. It’s like saying your rights are being trampled on if Walmart bans you from their store. You still have access to food.

With the existence of food desserts and Walmart’s decades long crusade of monopolization this is less true than you think.

Sure, you can still go buy food, but in many parts of rural US it’s now an hour+ trip each way to the gas station and costs 3x as much as you can afford. Meaning in reality you don’t.

You’re making exactly the right-libertarian point the meme mocks.

Explain why you think “private property” should get special privileges.

Because if it’s mine, I can do what I want with it. Did you build it? Contribute anything? It’s only communistic if you actually contribute. People often forget that part of communism. You have to contribute just as much to have a say. Thats why it’s for the WORKERS. So if you aren’t involved, you don’t have a say to my property.

Also, again, your point is moot in the face of my initial comment. The internet is a public utility (Atleast it should be). Facebook is a private one, and isnt yours. You have no right to it if you didn’t contribute

I love how tech CEOs contribute so much. I mean, they built the internet! Their platforms got so big fair and square, and the free market never creates harmful monopolies. Just vote with your wallet. These freeloaders who think corporations that I OWN (my property) should be controlled or even stolen from me by the general public (lazy ignorant people who do NOTHING for society) piss me off so much!

Anyway, these tankies don’t even understand “communism”. It’s supposed to be when only hard working people like Mark Zuckerberg and I have any say (I mean, I won in the free market, so that makes me the rightful authority). Don’t listen to these fools, my fellow entrepeneur. I love you.

I’m not even saying that. Lmao y’all really projected way further. All I’m saying, if you don’t like someone’s product or maintaining of it, don’t use it. The internet and social media silos aren’t the same thing lol

Nobody needs social media. There are a tons of other tools that replace what little functionality they have. They’re just not one click and all your friends aren’t on them.

Their monopoly would be useless if we made it so. Like who gets most of their information from these places when you have the entire web?

Get smarter about your information sources. But maybe I should be nicer, because you could have been born at a time when social media and platforms had become the internet, but for me, it’s always been just a sub block of it.

But you act like I worship them or something. I hate them too, I just think they’re not as important as we make them. Facebook shouldn’t be a public utility because it would still be detrimental to society. People don’t need it. But the internet itself, the wires, the protocols are. They should be as public as roads.

But Twitter? What do you do with that? And should we even care about it? I’ve never even had an account for it ever in its existence.

Edit: honestly, I just don’t think the government should have any control or input to information that is available. And big tech shouldn’t be cozy with them, like TikTok, meta, and the trump admin now. That makes them compromised in my eyes.

Also, again, any source of information that consists of an algorithmic feed beyond date sorting is bad for you. Thats every social media silo.

This is just the same kind of libertarian talking points again. Good job that you don’t personally like or use Twitter or Facebook, but big tech is always gonna act in the interest of capitalists and try to create monopolies that control information (at least in The West©).

Not sure what sources of information you like, but I guarantee you they’re either very obscure, discredited by propaganda or have similar problems to the social media you hate so much. Social media itself also affects what ordinary people can share and what they can communicate with others around the world.

All you’re really doing is responding to the guy yankin’ your chain by repeating yourself and saying I misrepresent you when I troll you.

This isn’t really accurate. Communism is about full, collectivized ownership, not tiny cells of cooperatives. Everyone across society should have equal ownership of production across society. We should certainly work towards sublimating private property and eliminating class, but we shouldn’t say that factory A worker A is the only one that has a say about what goes on in factory A, that would go horribly with central planning.

If this is Walmart we’re talking about then I sure as hell contributed to their success by subsidizing their underpaid employees with food stamps.

That seems dumb. It’s a northern-hemisphere language; the Moon waxes/wanes right-to-left in the northern hemisphere.
