The only people who see merit in the cause of Israel are total cranks and zealots who truly believe the US or Israel (depending on who you ask) are ordained by God (and their secular cousins, the Atlanticists - the fundamentalists of American civic religion), who look forward to dying in a nuclear inferno on that hill.
