YES.
Or shows where the characters are supposed to be lower/middle class but somehow afford all sorts of shit that is super unrealistic. (Think the cast of Superstore all getting super fancy halloween costumes every year and buying a new one every year eating takeout all the time and easily affording middle range cars when they work minimum wage).
We’ve had enough shows where a 20-year-old barista is living in a $2,000 apartment.
Or police shows in general? Seriously wtf over the air tv is mostly police shit like 90%
I caught a bit of Chicago PD a while back and was pretty grossed out by how blatantly it paints cops beating suspects and taking shortcuts in due process as not only a good thing, but as necessary to get “the really bad guys.” Also the episode where a scummy racist white cop randomly picked a black guy off the street to harass and that black guy ended up actually being being a rapist, murderer, drug dealer, or whatever.
Copaganda
Or national security spy thrillers.
Broadcast TV is basically cop shows, doctor shows, reality tv and news. I’ve heard more of each of these than shows about rich people. I think the article is an over-complaint.
I checked my local ABC affiliate. News is on from 3am to 10am, noon to 2pm, 4pm to 7pm, and 11pm to 11:30
That’s literally the majority of the day on news.
copaganda shows, generic MD shows and firefighter shows that should be on A&E. the copaganda ones trying to paint cops in a positive light is so obvious considered the networks are all owned by conservatives.
nowhere near as good as 2000s LAW and order, svu, etc. House, Firefighter is a strange thing to put on consider there isnt really negative light about them. Also that one firefighter show with the same-sex inappropiate relationship trope(dating your co-worker.)
…that’s because only old people watch TV…
back when downtown abby was all anyone was ever talking about i was completely mystified as to why anyone would enjoy watching this dreck
but people also watch reality tv and jerry springer. so whatever
I’m not a Downton fan, and think shows about the travails of the set upon landed aristocracy are, at best, blasé.
But Downton was not “drek” it was well acted and shot at least and was made with care. Not for me nor do I agree with it overall, but it wasn’t a “bad” show.
the great thing about art is no one can tell anyone what “good” and “bad” art is, no matter who you are. i’m glad you respect and appreciate it, but i’m still calling it dreck
Yes
The only shows I watch with rich people are where they’re miserable
i like the one “riches” where conartists pretend to be rich to grift. i dont think the show survived very long.
I’ve not had enough shows with Millie Alcock in them.
