Either you guys are slowly but surely teaching me to understand German, or this meme transcends language barriers
I can’t really imagine that it does tbh, because it references two very specific German things, namely:
- the all-nightly public-TV kids show Sandmann, that revolves around a cute puppet helping kids sleep by … throwing sand into their eyes vs.
- the novel Sandmann by ETA Hoffmann in which Sandmann steals the eyes of kids.
I sometimes have to use translation though I’ve had two years of German in highschool, but the Deutsch meme game is tight, real nice meta play
I took French. By all rights I shouldn’t understand any of it.
Es wäre angebracht, falls Ersteres zutrifft, nicht nur zu verstehe, sondern auch anzuwenden!
