As a member of the “on the spectrum” caucus- I believe the joke is they didn’t spend enough time first agonizing over optimizing the process for completing the simple task in case they have to do it again (they never will)
I took it like they just focused and finished the task at hand instead of getting distracted with other stuff or just lazy about it. Not really about agonizing.

Nah you nailed it. I was doing a bit based on how I typically take on a simple task (spend twice the time optimizing it in case it needs to be done again (it rarely does)).
