I’ve been trying to cut accidental plastic from my diet, and after swapping out half my kitchen I realize I also put my toothbrush in my mouth, so I need a new one. Closest I’ve been able to come is the bamboo brushes from Humble Co., but even they have nylon bristles. Does anyone know of anyone who offers toothbrushes with zero plastic in them?

Hey friend, went through this myself recently! Here’s a place that has bamboo toothbrushes with castor oil bristles. It was my first time trying either material, and the strength of the bristles really surprised me! You can get pretty rough with them and they won’t bend out of shape like nylon does (although they’re very easy to dye if you brush too soon after eating! 😅)

I think the handles are a great shape and very water resistant. Although to be honest, when time comes to replace mine, I’ll be looking for one that has a better overall “bristle shape” (unsure what to call it) because it’s really hard to completely brush my molars because of my gums shape back there. Will look for one that points outward at the end to reach back there properly. But these are a great start imo!

(edit: Sorry, realized after that this is for buyeuropean. I have no idea where these are manufactured currently, but I have no alternative suggestions atm)

One of the co-founders is German, but it seems the company itself is American.

Yeah, I didn’t realize where this was posted, but edited my comment to reflect that. Thanks for digging into that!

Fuck large US American businesses sure, but why fuck the small independent ones?

Well, I didn’t say fuck small independent businesses… It’s just that we’re in the Buy European comm, which is about European goods and services… And American is not European

That being said, the goal of the Buy European movement, in general, isn’t to screw over American businesses of any size, but to strengthen and support European businesses. If you’re buying from the US, consider buying from Europe instead. That’s how that goes.

It’s not just “buy EU because fuck the American corpos” but also “buy EU to stimulate the local economy and end the reliance on US”

Well, this isn’t really what you’re asking but maybe this link can help?

There’s also Gaia Guy (which is Canadian AFAIK, not European, but… Maybe close enough?).

You could look for horse hair or boar hair toothbrushes and see what you can find.

I don’t mind buying Canadian tbh, but if I do the price will skyrocket as shipping usually adds like 20€ to the price.
