I haven’t used a single TV/receiver back in the day that worked first try. You’d have to twist that one port, pull the other one out slightly, or constantly try to push it upwards to get a good signal. Kids really don’t know how good they have it with HDMI.

  • While I don’t have the answers I did attempt to write a book for fun many years ago. It was quite an eye opening experience, because it turns out writing a book is hard, and very time consuming. I was only about 20 pages in before I gave up the idea.

That said, you don’t have to actually write a book. Writing creative essays, short stories, and even articles can be very rewarding without needing any long-term commitments. I’d give those a shot before jumping into something as big as making a real book. I still enjoy writing and I’m sure you will too, but you need a ton of commitment to make a book.

I have a friend that’s a lot more technical than me and he said that Lemmy’s codebase is kinda messy and relies on libraries that are still in beta and have not been tested well in the real world (since Rust is a relatively new language). This was a few months ago though, I’m not sure how much things changed since it’s been getting a lot more support and rewrote the front-end. The good news is it’ll get a lot better as more developers contribute to it.

I think a lot of people assume that because it’s written in Rust that means it has to be super stable but that really isn’t the case.
