This is categorically false. The accounts exist on servers for both Matrix and XMPP and hold the messages for them, so no in fact no accounts etc get deleted if you delete the app. You actually have to delete the accounts from the app first.
We would not recommend Matrix, there are both many fascists on it and they didn’t fix a security vulnerability with their encryption for years that they knew about. Also if you must use Matrix don’t use fluffychat as it doesn’t have the encryption fix yet.
Signal is a better choice for privacy as everything is encrypted by default and it has both the audits and legal testing to prove its safety and code. Something which no other messenger we have seen can honestly say.

Well, we did put them in plastic boxes, two air tight and one box that was for candy before, so not sure if that changes anything. Also, the patches are in sealed packets and in a cardboard box themselves, so would that have helped?

We think the primary problem is that transmasc people are not often encouraged to get into tech and it feels unsafe for them because it is.
Tech is dominated mostly by cis men and trans femmes. Cis women and trans masc people are excluded and not encouraged towards such spaces or interests most of the time, partially because the structures are not built for them, partially because of the rampant misogyny that exists and partially because people who tend to run tech but especially open source tend to be very ideological and don’t like to consider alternative views.
Basically what we are saying is that in order to have more transmasc people here, a lot of stuff in these spaces and society needs to change.

We completely agree, Mozilla should not be run like it is i.e. a Tech Startup and should allow donations to Firefox directly.
It should become a worker owned co-op as that would make a lot of things better in the long run.

This is probably true of the version from the play store, desktop and maybe iOS version. However the apk from Signal’s site on android might not, I am unsure.
Sadly Molly is only available on Android, so that leaves out iOS and Desktop users.
