PSL ran 3 great candidates in the midterms and is, AFAIK, the largest ML party in the US. I know there are folks on here who’ve had bad experiences with them but I’d implore any US based comrades to get involved and organize with them. They provide structured training and resources for putting ML principles to work in the real world.
Anyone tracking the results for Joe Tache, Greg Levy, or Andre Easton? I know folks were optimistic that Greg would get really strong 3rd party numbers.
He’s also endorsed by the local DSA.
Agree but I think many of them have convinced themselves of the opposite.
I keep thinking not in terms of the interests of Europe or the EU and more in terms of the interests of the ruling class in the EU. Spending on war allows you to funnel more public money to yourself and less to the working class, Nationalism can make it easier for your preferred candidates to win elections, and if Russia really were to collapse your new colonial possessions could be a nice windfall.
Thanks for sharing your perspective comrade. What I have seen and heard contradicts your conclusion. I would encourage others reading this to judge the situation for themselves by meeting with their local PSL chapter and members and having frank discussions about the issues that are important to you.

The extrapolations by some hexbear users has been extremely far away and more definitive than anything the PSL article says, and the fact that they are claiming it as a defense of their unfounded extrapolations is extremely funny to me and represents a lack of sincerity or rigor
I’m sorry to be thick comrade but I don’t know that I understand your sentence. Are you talking about hexbear users, the PSL, or both? I may also be a little unclear about how you mean the word extrapolations.
I see lots of good examples of the PSL in action. Obviously incidents like the report of sexual assault and the largely unprofessional response are bad for the party but the new processes they’ve put in have been in place for years now and have had time to mature. We’ll have to see how effective it is, personally I’m very curious to see if we hear about the NDC handling a future case more effectively. Whatever ML party becomes ascendant in the US will need an extremely robust mechanism for addressing sexual assault and other anti social and corrupt behaviors. My hope is that we’ll see these reforms pay dividends and that the party will continue to iterate on those mechanisms.

From an absolute sense the PSL has been a small but growing party in the US. If you’re looking for socialist parties in the US you seem to really have DSA, FRSO, and PSL. I believe they’re all growing as material conditions and class consciousness changes continue to create favorable conditions.

I think you have to be in the popular consciousness to be in freefall but all jokes aside there aren’t a ton of options in US and there are fewer if you’re an ML. The PSL has confronted the latest allegations and continues to be a party working to improve itself, it’s processes, and it’s position in the US. If you want to be out organizing it’s a reasonable choice and, as you would expect from any mass organization, every local has it’s own dynamics and characteristics.
Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see any significant difference between your read here and the argument made in the article. The basic line we all seem to agree on is: Shit looks bad for the PSUV, it’s our job to help however we can from the outside, and fuck I hope the amazing people fighting for socialism in Venezuela are successful. What am I missing? I don’t see it calling out the anything beyond that the gov’t of Venezuela is looking pretty darn obedient to US imperial ambitions due to the whole arrest and murder thing.

Hard agree. There’s a strong effort here to portray the organization as irredeemable or fatally flawed. You can see an org that has learned from multiple failures and that is continuing to improve. You can see that the NDC is an iterative improvement over using standard channels and even though this incident predates the NDC you can see that body is also learning from it. In my personal opinion I’d want to see the party, and any socialist party, plan for malfeasance, sexual assault, and other inappropriate behavior by creating a strong independent and adversarial investigative arm. That said I’d defer to people that have more experience in building strong mechanisms for handling these kinds of issues.

Absolutely agree. It’s admirable to build something and contribute to the cause. If you can’t align with the PSL then don’t but spend your energy building something else not tearing comrades down.
