Because of the nature of our “revolution” (when we executed Ceausescu and his multi-doctoral and academic wife who didn’t know how to read properly and who also pronounced CO2 as in cotwo and not “see-oo-two”), we didn’t have any actual justice served. The rest of the system got away with it. The old political class continued to rob us, the torturers from the Securitate weren’t punished. Those with political connections got their hands on property and badly managed/unproductive factories and instead of bringing them up to western or even half-way decent standards they sold them for scrap iron - literally.

Even worse that the ML governments suppressed all traditional culture to the point that now it’s gone 100% in the opposite direction so that a lot of the people celebrating the traditional culture and straight-up fascists, so if a regular person wants to celebrate traditional culture they’re grouped with those fascists.

See, for us it didn’t happen like that. That’s why in present-day politics our “social democrats” are basically just (corrupt) conservatives, almost identical to our “national liberals” (these are 1% less corrupt). And it is centrist/center-right neolibs types that are the most progressive one. Shit’s a fuck, lmao.

Reddit had a huge amount of tankies that only lived on a handful of isolated subreddits.

I don’t know about others but this hasn’t been my experience. From what I’ve noticed a lot of left or left-leaning subreddits have been taken over by tankie mods.
I’m much happier with how kbin/lemmy/mastodon/etc work, at least this way I can choose my left/hard-left/left-leaning communities that I wish to interact with without them being controlled by tankies or other authoritarian flavors.

One of the main reasons why I didn’t choose lemmy was explicitly because the kind of red authoritarian crowd they seemed to attract. Sure, there’s gonna be people like that on kbin as well, but so far it’s been pretty decent from my point of view.

Before deleting your account use one of those tools to mass-edit all of your comments (forgot what the tool were called tho), replace the text with either a dot or with something like “user has moved on to X social network”, the less content reddit has the better. Just from a cursory glance alone his attitude is vehemently imperialistic, not too different from what I’ve experienced from many privileged westerners.
Whether his heart is or is not in the right place, that’s another matter. But after a year and a half of excruciatingly depressing takes from western leftists of all kinds, I’m not going to surround myself with people that I disagree most, I value my mental health more than that.
