Taiwan is not sovereign, the government is a us puppet state, which is armed by us in gross violation of the us one china policy. If us puppet is your view of democracy then I see why you have no issue. All since beginning KMT was so horribly undemocratic, that even the maoists seemed very moderate. Taiwanese are rich thanks to massive investments from US. As for the comparison to mainland, cpc managed an unprecedented in history wealth creation, comparing small part of china which received massive foreign capital inflow seems almost unreasonable.

Yeah I second that my german friend seems by far most against china, hes quite educated so especially on taiwan he conceded the international law, but idk why german media is so biased on this.
