I would argue that this blatant corruption was started by Dick Cheney when he was vice president. Before Cheney began openly defying precedent and the rules set in place, politicians did their best to hide their contempt for the rule of law and did their dirty deal making in the dark. It’s a bit older, but the HBO series ROME is amazing. There are two seasons and I’ve watched both at least 11 times each. Hell, you could throw it on right now and I’d sit down to watch it.
