Ye I’ve been since the start until some months ago in the Italian chapter of tech workers coalition because of this :P

I wish I had an idea to start fixing this

I do have ideas but the thing is that almost no one can fully save other people. Like the unionizing thing: we tried to unionize from outside but just doesn’t work if people inside don’t hammer everyday. We can think about cooperative models but even if we start a coop people will have to jump in your ship they can’t just keep the comfort of the status quo

It’s hard but my protip is that everyone should first acknowledge every kind of own power in their own life. Then think how to use it. For example I don’t have much but I happen to have some rural land. I’ll probably make a community space out of it but first I need to ensure myself some other basic survival power lol (basically, I want to go back to studying to then have a useful job for the society I envision)

control of ai by capital is bad, we all know that on this server; what are the next steps then? this is what solarpunks should ask themselves (first of all they -artists- prob need to unionize their workplace, for those not freelance, to ensure their jobs)

also those artists who used ai without telling you just want to get by their lives and are costrained by the system as you and as me

I don’t need Marx for class analysis and I agree on being united. What I do not like is puttingn theory in front of praxis. I won’t ever say “I won’t unionize with this Marxist”, I just won’t play their theory game on their field 😎

As I said, don’t need Marx to still get to the same direction of unions, associations, cooperatives, NGOs, mutual aid, sabotage, anticonsumerism and so on 🤝

Idk to me every time a Marxist talks I feel like he is more focusing on defending Marxism and trying to say “Marx already said it he said everything so read Marx and be Marxist” rather than anything useful else lol

I’m not gonna read Marx because people who read it are insufferable and we can explain a better world in much easier words thanks to sociology and psychology anyway 🤷

I won’t read their paper because every kind of DAO is the same in the end so I can generalize it.

They probably use a DAO form to raise money from people giving them back a token that allows them a form of digital ownership. Basically is what an association or a cooperative can do but if they do not actually build that coop or org it just stays a useless token in front of the law. Are they conscious of it? Who knows. Is it good? Ehhh, only if the people behind it are actually iron willed and will keep the mission in front of earnings because, as I said, legally the ownership is on them and not on all the token owners.

I’d avoid it. There are a lot of ways to pay associations to plant trees or ensure wildlife while also not feeding a bullshit machine :)

You know it good, so you also know that blockchain is just a technology. Don’t strawman me pls, I never said to use the existing chains based on cryptonomics :)

Btw NGOs presence is not a good enough marker because usually every chain already got a foundation
