Bud Lite?
Bud Lite?
IMO the law is intended to reduce consumer electronic waste, making batteries that anyone from kids to grandparents can easily replace themselves. Currently the steam deck battery isn’t all that difficult to replace for the tech savvy “brave” folks who happily open up their devices and see the internals, but for most people that’s not good enough. I would never expect my 68 year old mother to replace it herself. IMO the aim is to make batteries replaceable like the PS5 SSD expansion capacity is. Just need a screwdriver and a few minutes, without every feeling like you might break something. Needing anything more than that and most people won’t do it out of fear they’ll break their device.
But only time will tell what actually happens.

ifixit: “Battery replacements definitely seem to be the steam deck’s achilles heel”
Easy to open yes, but still very challenging to replace the battery. Doesn’t seem to comply to the new rules to me.
I think you misunderstood, I used the revanced manager to patch Sync so I could continue to use it, not the official app to just remove ads (which would still be an improvement).
I used to worry about this a lot, I still do but I used to too.
Joking aside, it’s a shit show that us plebians can’t really do anything about but I still try. I’ve driven a hybrid for the last 6 years, I have a smart thermostat to try to save energy, I try to eat less meat more often. I recycle a lot more than most. I even make my own bread and nut milks and many other things which is not only cheaper and healthier (and WAY more delicious) but requires less transport related greenhouse gas emissions than buying premade breads and nut milks. Nut milk is especially better than dairy milk in that matter.
Oh yeah! And yesterday I picked up 10 large trash bags of litter:

I just used the revanced hack to make it still work by making Reddit think it’s my own developed app. Able to use it right now!
But I REALLY like Lemmy, so even if I occasionally use Reddit after that dumpster fire, my usage will be split in half by Lemmy.
It’s amazing. Highly recommend it!
I use Android and I hate drastic change, my brother switched to the apple ecosystem and is constantly showing me cool things. I’ll give Apple one thing, they know how to make their devices just work together with basically no effort. It’s something I wish Android did even half as well.
Yes, but you’re still a major celebrity in America!
This is me. I’m going to occasionally see posts that Google links me to, and I may even login once in a while on the website on my PC to browse a bit, but my days of constant participation are basically over.
Reddit Sync IS Reddit to me. I’ve used it at least weekly for 11 years straight. But TBH, the fediverse is very similar and I don’t think I’ll miss Reddit much. Especially as the more niche communities start to develop over here too.
I’m in the USA but I think it’s inevitable. The USA is the single largest primarily English speaking democracy in the world. Since Lemmy.world is a primarily English speaking instance, it should be expected that an American would create a politics community first and since it’s the first they just call it politics.
For example, the UK is the only country in the world where they don’t put the country name on their stamps. Because they invented paper stamps first in 1840.
This is not a fight worth worrying about IMO.
