I think they meant that presidents should be forgettable and avoid damaging stuff
I think they meant that presidents should be forgettable and avoid damaging stuff
So let’s put pressure on our government to do that instead of trying to shoot ourselves in the foot.
It’ll be okay to vote third party (in a social sense since it’s already allowed legally) when we change the election systems that we use so that third party votes are not spoiler votes. Let’s abandon First Past the Post and use something like Ranked Choice Voting or better.
This does not say she is bragging about doing anything sexual with Trump. She is trying to deny it.
What is your opinion of the idea that this position may make you indistinguishable from a Trump supporter?
Almost! Kamarades. Kamalades?
Does celebate mean virgin? I thought it just meant not having sex.
He’ll probably blame rigged elections for his loss. In his mind, he wants to avoid the idea he ever made a bad choice.
It seems like it is useful to try to speak to the median voter and (supposed) undecideds who would be affected by this. There are lots of other publications with different perspectives. Is it bad necessarily that this one exists and operates this way?
There were a lot of rumors and speculation about this possibility last week that I think did take a lot of attention away from the Republican convention.
Third parties under the First Past the Post voting system are literally the threat to the power structure that will just keep them pushed down by the major parties.
The major parties may be afraid of sharing power now, but they are also seeing the threat of losing power completely when they can’t keep their coalitions together.
We see Democrats making a major move today with Biden stepping down from the race in order to placate parts of the party that are very unsatisfied. The threat is already more real today than it has ever been.
I think that people will realize that we are all in alignment about reforming the election system being better for the country, even to preserve a large part of the current power structure.
Then are you more aligned with the Republicans or the Democrats? Like it or not, the election system only supports two parties. That’s what we should be pushing towards changing rather than hurting ourselves.
I think that Kamala is the most obvious replacement especially because she has access to the Biden/Harris campaign funds. If that’s agreed upon by the delegates, then the selection is just for VP, which I think can be more streamlined.
Ah, a thought-terminating cliche.
Fast, normal, and slow are not clear either, I think. We see here that the “fast” term needs to evolve because it probably feels pretty slow now. Wattages are pretty clear reference points when users come to understand what they mean, especially over time.
When would supplying water be racist?
Could we say that it’s improving the US externally?
I agree with you, but I want to point out that this conflation is a direct result of our election system because it mechanically cannot support more than two parties.
Any other political interests need to merge together into one big entity that is nearly impossible to disentangle from the rest, so now maga = conservatism and we lose a lot of nuance in or political decision making and ability to be represented.
I’m pushing for Election Reform this election to move past First Past the Post voting.
Nope, our election system doesn’t support it and actually has a spoiler effect because you end up tacitly supporting the other side by not voting for one of the two strongest parties.
