  • not very. but they’re alright. we also have a workers party and they have delegates in the parliament (i guess 3), where tkp doesn’t.

historically they have been mostly on the right side of things. they were really influential in the late 70s. but after the '80 coup, a huge number communists were just slaughtered or tortured for years on end. now we’re left with practically a two party system: religious fascism or nationalist fascism.

there’s a kurdish party and they’re mostly left leaning, and a good portion is socialist, but the widespread racism has labeled them as terrorists, naturally.

  • "we’re going to Gazza on Madleen. 🍉

the work and huge sacrifices that beautiful people have been put through will bear fruit, God willing.

this will inspire some people to stop this genocide and break this siege, God willing.

at least we can say we were the ants [that did not bow down].

at least we can say we did not cave to the oppressors. 💪

at least we can say we remained human in this cruel world. 💪

we ask for your support and prayers… 🫡"

  • hey everyone, devil`s advocate here (and a civil engineer).

the critical temperature in question is not the melting point. at lower temperatures, steel behaves elastically, meaning it regains its initial state. then it starts to behave elastoplastically, which means it almost regains its initial state with no critical damage. then it behaves plastically, which means it deforms and cant get back its initial state and leads to structural failure, gradually. eurocode 3 covers building fires up to 800°C if im not mistaken, meaning steel doesnt lose its structural capacity up to that range. knowing how these codes are written, i bet it wouldnt turn into slush at 801°C.

additionally saying that “the entire strength of the structure was on the outer edge” is plain wrong. nobody even would consider to design a building like that, and i know for a fact that the core of this specific building was exceptionally and unnecesarily built strong.

i have been having this inner conflict with myself for decades. these two building fell after a plane hit them (and another without a plane impact). but i cannot accept that they caused the collapse, my professional integrity does not let me.

  • this is literally how we work now in construction. because everything is digital people think that this is an acceptable approach. all my costing files are purposefully extremely dynamic.

you want to add another floor? no problem.

you want to change some floors from 3 bedroom to 2 bedroom? no problem.

you want to remove a parking floor and have outside parking? no problem. you don’t want to have low hanging beams? no problem.

and so on and so on…

i know i should not be working like this, but sometimes i have to.

  • the other day i asked my coworkers that “doesn’t that bother you that some of your apps are always listening to you?” they said “i’m not saying anything illegal and when i see a product that i was talking about, it’s almost like a reminder, otherwise i would forget all abou it”.

    i gave up.
