He’s had some really shitty vetos of bills that had widespread support. He’s not the absolute worst, but he definitely is a very “traditional” dem, which everyone is pretty tired of nowadays.
This is very much just plain mental illness, but if you want to use it to justify being annoyed at all Americans in general, more power to you I guess.
The number of people I talk to who mindlessly regurgitate the “fact” that “most people are terrible” seems to be going up. Most people don’t act like they think that’s true, but once you really internalize that kind of misanthropy, assuming every interaction will be negative is how you go through the world.
Your assumptions about the world greatly impact how you interact with it, and when you stop looking for anything good, you’ll only see good things when they’re shoved in your face. It’s easy to justify your general malaise because you tell yourself everyone is like that.
Trans Wizard Harriet Porber by Chuck Tingle unironically slaps.
Push back when you see it. Remind them that we have a chance to reset, and they don’t have to act the same way here that they did on reddit.
Didn’t Juliette grow up down in maintenance? It might have been long enough to develop a slight different accent…
Turns out you can click the link and find out! It links to a very short Bluesky post! Try it out! Lemmy has more than just headlines!
Obviously the team that won had better people who were praying even harder.
Depression is definitely a factor for many people. But the death of 3rd spaces is fairly well documented. The problem is that many people don’t know how to make friends. Friends very rarely happen instantly, they usually are a result of repeated and consistent interactions. Adults rarely seek out situations that would give them those types of interactions outside of work and school.
It’s super interesting that a nicely formatted, bulleted and quoted comment like yours was immediately accused of being Ai. I know that AI generally use a similar format when summarizing, but that’s just because it’s been trained on lots of people writing real summaries.
I’m worried that the new keyboard warriors of the internet are just going to be harassing people with AI accusations. I’ve seen gamedevs accused of having their store page text written by AI, artists who’ve had incredible and personal works doubted, and authors having organized harassment campaigns over false Ai suspicions. People are getting really overzealous about being anti AI and it’s getting a bit irrational.
I remember naming one of my Oregon Trail characters “God”. The words “God has cholera” still make me laugh, and this just reminded me.
Chess is a war game. Killing and violence in general are devastating. It’d be interesting to compare the brain activity of a murderer with a grandmaster player. I have my suspicions about what we would see.
Eh, still about 50-50 with these people. I’ve sent an email with 4 nicely formatted and numbered questions and had them respond only to question 3. Like… You read some of it, decided to answer one, and then give up with no other acknowledgement? Shit is wild.
That’s fair, but for awhile that setting only worked on desktop, and various apps still may or may not respect the setting. I’ve never encountered someone who enjoys this being on be default.
3rd party can’t really gain power with first past the post. We have to implement ranked choice or approval voting before meaningful 3rd party choices are viable.
You’re right, if you alone can’t fix everything, there’s really no point to trying.
14-15 pounds is huge for a cat. 8-12 is average.
I think the way we consume news has gotten incredibly unhealthy. The rush to know things as fast as possible has lowered the quality of news, and mixing the news into your entertainment feed of the entire day might be weird for our brain.
I feel you though. There’s shitty things happening in the world and it doesn’t seem like it’s helpful to anyone for me to know about every little instance. I wish I could just get detailed stories for local news, and just get general stats for national stuff.
They aren’t talking about empathy, this is something else. It’s about the guilt of feeling happiness in a world that seems like it’s going in the wrong direction.
That guilt is understandable, but when it becomes so pervasive that you feel the need to express that guilt on every single expression of joy, that seems unhealthy for society, and it makes people much less likely to join a movement.
